"True Colors"由Billy Steinberg與Tom Kelly操刀，是專輯中唯一非辛迪所寫的曲子，但此曲卻成為傳唱至今的隽永經典，後人更是翻唱不斷。真摯略啞的嗓音，與簡單純粹的弦樂、吉他編曲，及充滿正能量的歌詞讓這首歌的張力直接穿透身體，觸動最深層無法言喻的情緒。
"True Colors"成為辛迪的第二首美國冠軍單曲。辛迪對這首歌曲之所以産生共鳴，是因為這首歌讓辛迪想起因艾滋病而逝的舊交Gregory Natal。
這首歌因此也成為同志圈的代表歌曲，辛迪也因此建立了"True Colors"基金會，主要受益群衆為男女同志人群，雙性戀以及變性人等弱勢群體。

辛迪·勞帕（ Cyndi Lauper），1953年6月22日生于紐約皇後區，美國創作歌手、制作人、演員、同志權利運動家。辛迪·勞帕是曆史上同時擁有 格萊美獎、 艾美獎、 托尼獎三大領域獎項的二十位藝術家之一。
1983年底推出首張個人專輯《She'sSoUnusual（她非比尋常）》，以其極盡鮮豔、誇張與多變的妝扮造型領導風潮，同時又以其演唱與創作才華，獲得樂界一緻好評，成為MTV早期主打藝人，并創下一張專輯便擁有四首TOP5單曲的紀錄，更于1985年獲第27屆格萊美音樂獎入圍年度專輯、年度制作、年度最佳歌曲提名，并勇奪最佳新人獎頭銜。
