《Safe & Sound》創作于2011年秋季的一個晚上，歌曲的歌詞由泰勒·斯威夫特與獨立民謠樂隊The Civil Wars的成員約翰·保羅·懷特、喬伊·威廉姆斯共同編寫，T·本恩·本内特擔任執行音樂制作人，這首歌的内容根據電影《饑餓遊戲》的主題所撰寫，表達了影片的一部分含義。而這首歌曲的錄唱歌手泰勒·斯威夫特在接受媒體采訪時，也表示自己因為能夠為這部電影(指《饑餓遊戲》)獻唱主題曲而感到非常榮幸。
