劇情簡介
一起神秘的死亡時間吸引了古生物學家凱麗（布裡吉特·芳達 Bridget Fonda 飾）的注意，為了了解事件的真相，凱麗千裡迢迢的趕到了案發地——一個古老的湖泊，而之後發生的事情更讓凱麗确信，在這平靜的湖面下，隐藏了什麼可怕的東西。凱麗的猜測在小鎮上引起了轟動，有些人信以為真，另一些人則不以為然。就在輿論的熱度到達最頂峰之時，一個遊客被不明物體拖入湖中的慘劇讓所有人都意識到，事情嚴重了。
凱麗和管理員傑克（比爾·普爾曼 Bill Pullman 飾），警長漢克（布萊丹·格裡森 Brendan Gleeson 飾）等人圍繞着古湖展開了調查，令人震驚的是，在湖底，他們發現了一隻異常兇猛巨大的史前巨鳄。
