《Beauty and a Beat》最初是DJZedd写的，他原本是打算将这首歌收录入他的专辑《Clarity》，但是Zedd觉得这首歌不是十分适合他的新专辑的风格，所以他和Max Martin、Savan Kotecha和Nicki Minaj共同制作了一个版本，并将这首歌收录入Bieber的第三张录音室专辑《Believe》中。
另外，Nicki Minaj还参与了这首歌的featuring。在与Minaj合作后，Bieber说：“我要的是一个女说唱歌手，Minaj是最好的选择，她特别适合这首歌。”此外，歌曲的混音版本在2012年12月11日发布。
