解释
卑：低、自卑。
亢：高傲。
不卑不亢，形容人说话办事有恰当的分寸，既不低声下气，也不傲慢自大。这个词出现在外交场合的频率颇高，通常用来形容一个出色的外交家在友邦人事面前特有的风骨。当然，也指平常人的品格。

典故
春秋末年齐国宰相晏婴奉命出使楚国，楚王百般刁难他，先是让他从小门进城，然后说他是矮子，用最差的饭菜招待他，最后用两个齐国囚犯来羞辱他，均被他的不卑不亢的态度及高超的外交才能所折服，结果楚王自取其辱。
